EOY Message

Panther Families,

Thank you to our students and families for an outstanding 2023-24 school year!  As with every year, it has been a rollercoaster ride at times, but we are fortunate to have an amazing staff and great kids and families.

Speaking on behalf of the administrative team, we cannot express enough appreciation for your support, patience, and understanding through our administrative team transition.  All of our staff, students, and families have helped make this an incredible school year.  Of course, we are all far from perfect, but you have an administrative team committed to doing what is in the best interest of the students in LeRoy.  And we are grateful for a staff who is committed to the same mission as us.

Our Community Relations - LeRoy Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF)

The LeRoy Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF) is a not-for-profit corporation organized in 1996 to supplement and enhance educational opportunities for the students of LeRoy Schools.  In its founding year, LEAF began by funding a supervised computer library and Internet access for LeRoy students and residents.  Since its inception, LEAF has also funded individual classroom grants that enhance the day to day learning opportunities for our students.  These have included classroom materials, educational field trips, and supporting technology in the classroom.  Most recently, LEAF gave $100,000 to the school district for an inclusive playground to be built at LeRoy Elementary School.

From July 1, 1996 to the present, LEAF has contributed over $300,000 to enhance learning experiences and support the future of our children.  In recent years, LEAF has combined funds with the school district to purchase Smart Boards for the classrooms across the curriculum, establish teacher training centers, offset the cost for one-to-one student Chromebooks, and help fund the development of special student training areas at the high school level.

LEAF wants to continue to play a vital role in our children’s education and future.  To do this they need community support.  You may contribute cash gifts, endowments, memorials, or bequests.  If you are interested in volunteering with LEAF or making a donation, please contact Karin Morgan (morgank@leroyk12.org or 309-962-4211) in the LCUSD #2 District Office or LEAF President, Jan Owens.

Our Student Achievement - Class of 2024, Skyward

Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2024!  We are excited for this year’s graduates to enter the next phase of their lives.  Our staff is confident that these graduates have the Habits of Success and rich experiences from their entire PK-12 preparation to enter the college, career, or industry of their choice.

Over the summer, we will have a systemwide Skyward upgrade.  This is a significant transition for us and will cause some internal disruption, but very little disruption to our families.  The only disruption families should experience will be a systemwide Skyward shutdown June 10 - 21.  At this time we anticipate everything being operational after June 21st.

Our Facilities - Dud Berry Gym HVAC Renovation

The morning of Friday, May 24th, families should have received detailed information regarding our JHHS Dud Berry Gym HVAC Renovation that begins on Tuesday, May 28th.  This information was also shared through our website and social media accounts.  The essential information to know is that Dud Berry Gym will be closed for renovation May 28 - August 12.  The JHHS main entrance Door #1 will be closed May 28 - June 7.  During that time frame, Door #8 on Pine Street (the old district office entrance) will serve as our temporary main entrance.

Our Finance - Closing out the year and planning for next year

The 2024-25 budget continues to perform well.  We are 90% through the fiscal year and have 10-15% of our budgeted expenses available.  We are also receiving revenues on time and as scheduled.  Our overall budget performance for the year continues to trend on pace with this time last year, and is on pace to finish balanced and at or better than the previous two years.  The 2024 fiscal year will close on June 30th and we will transition into the 2025 fiscal year on July 1st.  As we continue to monitor this year’s budget and close out the year, the development of the 2025 fiscal year budget is well underway.

Have a wonderful summer!  Please note that students return to school for a full day on August 14th.  Thank you for your continued support of LeRoy Schools.

Go Panthers!
