January Principal's Message
Happy New Year and welcome back to all of our families! After a much needed break for everyone, we are excited to be back for second semester. Earlier today, you should have received a district message with our updated COVID Instructions and Family Resources document for second semester. There are a few changes to note, which are denoted with a NEW logo.
If your child is symptomatic, positive, or you believe they should quarantine, please contact Mrs. Gaffney in the office (email@example.com or 962-2911) and complete the COVID Reporting Form. As a reminder, when students are absent due to any reason, they should email their teachers to request any work they can do while they are done. In most cases, teachers can direct students to work on Google Classroom, in their Google Drive, or on their website. Students are expected to attempt to do their work while they are gone, particularly with extended absences and quarantines. We will be flexible with students and families on days when they are too sick to work.
We are now entering the busiest time of year for our facilities. In January and February, our gym spaces, cafeteria, and other parts of the building are busy every night with games and other events, school practices, and performances. We are very fortunate to have great facilities and cooperation from our students, parents, and staff in sharing spaces. While it can be difficult for everyone at times, we appreciate everyone being respectful and supportive of all of our programs offered to our students.
With January here, it is likely real winter weather will be arriving soon. Please review our District Winter Weather Policy, which remains unchanged from the past few years. When winter weather arrives, potential school closings and informational updates will be communicated through Skyward messenger, the district Facebook page, and Skylert messages via phone, text, and e-mail. Due to the time it takes for our system to process sending out alerts, the first place you will likely see alerts will be through the district Facebook page.
