The LHS American History classes, led by ISU Student Teacher Heather Paraday, hosted a WWII Era Hangar Dance to raise funds for a local veterans charity. HOOAH (Healing Outside of a Hospital) cover all of the costs and logistics associated with providing outdoors recreational experiences for disabled veterans. Through their hard work, the students will present HOOAH with a check for nearly $1300.00. Thank you to the LeRoy Methodist church for providing the venue.

Thank you to our Driver's Ed teacher, Ms. Elliott, for planning our safe driving assembly. Tony Hoffman was our guest speaker. He and his mom shared their heartbreaking experience with drunk driving. It is an absolute miracle that "Big Tone" is still with us today and is able to share his story. At the conclusion of the assembly, our students pledged to always be safe drivers and safe passengers. We wish all of students and families a safe and memorable prom season.

8th Grade Celebration
Panther Families, April Superintendent Message Our Community Relations - State of the Schools Video Series Beginning in 2008, LeRoy CUSD #2 started holding annual State of the Schools events in person.  The intent was to transparently share where the district had been, where we are currently, and forecast vision to the future.  Communication methods have evolved over the years, and everyone seems busier by the day.  In an effort to reach as many families as possible, this year we shared our State of the Schools through a short video series on April 10th.   This year, we began releasing a district quarterly newsletter.  Our first two issues were released in October and January.  Electronic versions were posted on our Facebook page and hard copies were located at various locations in the community.  The third issue will be released the week of April 15th, but, rather than putting out our own hard copies, we will begin putting our newsletter in the LeRoy Leader.  This will help ensure community members that are not on social media will have greater access to our newsletter.  The newsletter will also still be shared through our Facebook page.  Our Student Achievement - 2024-25 Academic Calendar Note the last day of student attendance for the 2023-24 school year is May 23. Graduation is May 19th at 2:00pm at the football field. The 2024-25 Academic Calendar is attached.  Our Board of Education also approved the 2025-26 Academic Calendar, which is very similar to the 2024-25 calendar and will be released soon.  Next year, we will utilize a hybrid of Emergency Days and E-Learning Days to help provide predictability to our calendar.  The first 2 school cancellations would be traditional snow days that would have to be made up.  The next 3 school cancellations would be E-Learning Days and would not need to be made up.  Details of potential E-Learning Days will be developed and shared next December.  This procedure guarantees the last possible day of student attendance would be May 29th.  By school code, we have to make up 5 Emergency Days unless we have a waiver to use E-Learning Days.   Unique highlights of the 2024-25 calendar include: May 28 - August 12 Dud Berry Gym will be closed for HVAC Replacement August 14  First Day of Student Attendance November 5  No School - Election Day (State Law) January 6 No School - Teacher Institute Day May 18, 2:00pm Graduation  May 22 Last Day of Student Attendance (no emergency days used) May 29  Last Day of Student Attendance (all emergency days used) Our Facilities - Summer Work As everyone knows by now, our big project for this summer is the replacement of the Dud Berry Gym HVAC System.  This work will begin as soon as school ends and will be completed just before the start of next school year.  Thanks to a generous $100,000 donation from the LeRoy Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF), we have a late June installation scheduled for an additional playground at LeRoy Elementary School.  This playground will increase equipment for all students and feature handicapped accessibility as well as sensory play items.  We will extend a portion of our current accessibility path to the playground, and will extend that same path to the baseball/softball concession area.   Our Finance - Budget Performance The 2024-25 budget continues to perform well.  We are 75% through the fiscal year and have 25% of our budgeted expenses available.  We are also receiving revenues on time and as scheduled.  This year we have encountered a couple of unexpected Health, Life, Safety expenses in the replacement of a failed sink in the 5th/6th grade wing, RVS Gym HVAC repairs, and early Dud Berry Gym HVAC work.  Outside of those expenses, our budget has performed as developed.   Thank you for your continued support of LeRoy Schools. Go Panthers! Jeff Baughman Superintendent

State of the Schools
Each year, the General Joseph Bartholomew Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognizes high school seniors as Outstanding Good Citizens.  These students are nominated by teachers and other staff members based on the qualities of: Dependability, Service, Leadership, Scholarship, and Patriotism. Today was the 25th Annual SAR Good Citizenship Scholarship Luncheon held at the Bloomington Country Club. Twenty outstanding high school seniors from McLean and Woodford Counties were celebrated today! Seniors are selected by their school and awarded with a SAR Good Citizenship Certificate. Matthew Stuepfert was nominated by his teachers and other staff members at LeRoy High School to receive this award. Matthew plans to attend Illinois State University and study finance. Congratulations, Matthew. We are proud of you and we wish you the best of luck in the future!
