Please join us on Thursday, November 7th 6:30-7:00pm in the Performing Arts Center as we induct 1961 LeRoy High School Alum, Cecil Allison, into the LCUSD #2 Hall of Fame.
Cecil Allison, son of Martha and Warren Allison, is a graduate of LeRoy High School (1961), U.S. Coast Guard Academy (‘65), University of Illinois (‘71), and Naval War College (‘85).
At his LHS English teacher’s suggestion, Cec, a multisport athlete, musician and Valedictorian, applied and was accepted at USCGA. As a cadet, he sang in glee club, participated in musical theater and was the kicker known as ‘Golden Toe’ Allison on the 1963 undefeated and untied USCG Academy team coached by Otto Graham, playing in the 1963 Tangerine Bowl. During an Academy glee club concert, he met the love of his life, June McClintock. Married in 1967, they raised their family as they moved across the globe.
During his Coast Guard career, he served on 6 ships, commanding 3, including assignments as Executive Officer, Commanding Officer, and Chief of Operations. As CO of USCGC Boutwell in 1988, Cecil and his crew interdicted the Encounter Bay, seizing over 60 tons of marijuana, worth more than $200 million, the largest drug bust ever on the West Coast. With duties including narcotics interdiction, fisheries and illegal migration enforcement, search and rescue, and operational command of the Pacific, Cecil exemplified duty to his country, retiring after 30 years as a Captain (O-6).
Throughout his life, Cecil has found fulfillment in family, music and church, serving on leadership teams and choirs with each move. Upon retiring in 1995, he volunteered with his church’s interfaith Habitat for Humanity ministry in Seattle.
