Our Student Achievement

Student achievement in LeRoy is defined by the range of learning opportunities available to students and the outcomes that result, extending beyond academic performance to include co- and extra-curricular involvement, service learning, work experiences, and college and career readiness. Most of our students are highly engaged in learning and growth opportunities, with 85% participating in at least one school-based activity and 95% involved when outside of school opportunities are included.  Over 1/3 of Juniors and Seniors also take part in dual credit courses, internships, and the Bloomington Career Academy (BCA). Academically, students demonstrate strong performance across grade levels, with higher-than-average achievement and growth in reading and math, consistent improvement over multiple years, ACT scores above the national average, and strong long-term postsecondary enrollment and persistence rates. Career preparation is further strengthened through BCA, which now operates in an expanded facility, offers college dual credit coursework, industry-recognized certifications, and diverse career pathways, and supports students in making informed postsecondary choices.

Our Facilities

Our first major project funded by County Schools Facility Tax (CSFT) revenue is planned for this summer and will replace asbestos tile hallway flooring in part of the elementary school with new LVT flooring in all hallways.  We are in the process of estimating and determining additional spring and summer projects including security camera upgrades, replacement of elementary locker room sinks, high school furniture upgrades, sanding/painting/resealing Dud Berry Gym floor, track surface maintenance, and weight room upgrade.  Security camera upgrades are a part of our regular allocation of CSFT money.  The remaining items are planned to be completed through use of Health/Life/Safety funds and Operation & Maintenance funds.

Check out our CSFT Transparency Dashboard on our district website for ongoing updates to our long-term facility planning.

Our Finance

For the FY2027 tax levy, McLean County property values continue to grow significantly, especially in residential properties. The district remains committed to using one-third of CSFT revenue to lower the property tax rate by applying it to bond and interest payments. This year, an estimated $772,500 in CSFT revenue is expected, with about $257,500 used for tax abatement.

As a result, the district will reduce its tax rate to the lowest level in 25 years, decreasing it from $5.29 to $5.04—an estimated reduction of at least 25 cents. While overall tax bills may still increase due to rising property values, they will be lower than they would have been without the rate reduction. The district continues to balance high-quality student services with responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and maintains one of the lowest school tax rates in McLean County.

Our Community Relations

LeRoy CUSD #2 wants to send a special holiday thank you to our community for your outstanding support of our students and staff.  Your trust and investment in our schools make it possible for us to maintain safe, high-quality learning environments, plan responsibly for the future, and provide meaningful opportunities for all students. We are grateful for your partnership and shared commitment to both educational excellence and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.

You are a significant part in our unifying theme “It’s Different Here”.  This year’s message aligns with our Habits of Success, and Profile of a Graduate.  Despite an often negative state and national narrative in public education, we believe our community, students, and staff are what truly make it different here.  As outlined in Our Student Achievement, our goal is for our students to have a truly unique and individually positive experience and opportunity to develop into a competitive adult when they graduate.  Thank you for your support of our district!
