Panther Families,

February has arrived!  Depending on which groundhog you choose to follow, we either have 6 more weeks of winter or an early Spring.  I am choosing to stick with Illinois’ own Woodstock Willie who did not see his shadow, contradicting famed Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania who did see his shadow.  So bring on Spring!

Our Student Achievement

Congratulations to our newest Bloomington Career Academy (BCA) Technical Honor Society members! Your future is bright, and we cannot wait to see where your talents take you.   The National Technical Honor Society exists to reward excellence in workforce education, build student confidence and pride, and encourage students to reach higher levels of achievement.

Our Community Relations

The IHSA has recently approved several by-law changes that will impact summer athletics and the 2026 athletic seasons. We want to communicate these updates early so families can plan accordingly.

Beginning in the summer of 2026, the IHSA has established a mandatory statewide “No Contact Week” that will occur annually during the Fourth of July Week. For 2026, this week will be June 29-July 5.  During this week, schools are not permitted to hold practices, competitions, open gyms, conditioning, or weight training.  As part of this change, the previous no-contact week in early August has been eliminated.

The impact on families:  LeRoy Schools want to strongly emphasize the impact on summer vacations and family planning. With practices and games beginning earlier, families should take these changes into account when scheduling trips or commitments.  This is a significant change from the traditional IHSA “first week of August” No Contact.   We are hoping this will be helpful in planning summer vacations for our families.  We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate these changes together.

The first day of school for the 2026-27 school year will be August 19th.  We will release our 2026-27 school calendar as soon as it is approved by the Regional Office of Education.  Key Breaks to note:  No School November 25-27, No School December 21 - January 4, No School March 22-29, Tentative Last Day May 25.

Our Facilities

As we have previously communicated, we have a lot of facility projects coming up.  This will limit access to buildings and gym spaces at different times this spring and summer.  Here are few projects we have on tap:

  • March 23-27 (Spring Break) - Track Surface Repairs

  • May - Weight Room Renovations

  • May 26 - June 5 - Elementary Flooring Asbestos Abatement (Building & RVS Gym Closed)

  • May 26 - June 5 - Dud Berry Gym Closed for sanding, painting, and resealing

  • June 8 - July 31 - Elementary Flooring Installation

  • July 1 - 21 - RVS Gym Closed for Painting

Our Finance

We are in the process of updating our summer facilities budget based on quoted contract work and bid packages.  As these budgets become final, we will continue to update our CSFT Transparency Dashboard on our website.  In addition, we have now received four CSFT revenue payments and are over halfway through our fiscal year.  This information will allow us to keep our long-term budgeting and planning up to date.

Check out our CSFT Transparency Dashboard on our district website for ongoing updates to our long-term facility planning.
