We need at least 15 more blood donors to come out and donate at the Le Roy High School blood drive tomorrow, March 13th to meet our collection target of 45. The ARC is in EMERGENCY NEED of type O blood. O negative is the universal donor and O positive is the most common blood type. It is crucial that we have all blood types available when needed! Will you help? Remember one unit of blood can save up to 3 lives! It's not too late to make your appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome. As a thank you, all presenting donors will receive an ARC t-shirt along with a $10 e gift card! Please help Le Roy High School and sign up to donate blood today! Thanks for your continued support!

Congratulations to our Eagle Scouts! We are thrilled to announce and celebrate the remarkable achievement of our LeRoy HS students who have earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout! Becoming an Eagle Scout requires years of perseverance, leadership, and the completion of an extensive service project that benefits the community. We are so proud of our students who have demonstrated exceptional skills and character throughout this journey, showcasing the values of integrity, teamwork, and responsibility. This group of young men are leaders in our hallways and in our communities and beautifully exemplify our Profile of a Graduate mission! Colin Dunafin Built an informational board commemorating the Gaultney brothers, three young men from here in Le Roy who all died fighting in WWII. John O’Brien Built six native bee houses at Weldon Springs to give habitat for native species of solitary bees. Noah O’Brien Built a ga-ga ball pit at Gaultney Park. Brandon Webner Built a shade pavilion at LeRoy Dog Park. Brandon’s Eagle Scout Project was named Project of the Year for the Crossroads district.

Panther Families, Here we go again! LeRoy CUSD #2 will not be in session on Wednesday, February 12th. It is difficult to make a decision not to send kids to school a day ahead of time based on the forecast, and a forecast that likely doesn’t affect us getting to school in the morning. That being said, I know it helps families plan when they know what to expect as early as possible. We could wait until 5:00-6:00am tomorrow morning to make this decision, but I don’t believe we will know any additional information at that time that would change the forecast during the afternoon. While there are always uncertainties with weather predictions, the latest National Weather Service update is confident that we will see at least 3-4” of snow beginning around 8:00-9:00am with the heaviest precipitation 11:00am-4:00pm. They also predict snow turning to a wintry mix with freezing rain from 3:00pm on. In addition, it will be extremely cold with wind gusts throughout the day of 20-25mph. This all adds up to a mess for afternoon dismissal with difficulty keeping our lots clear and getting our students and staff home safely. Consideration was given to attending for a morning half day, but we would likely have done a planned early dismissal as early as 11:00am. That would not create any greater convenience for our families and would still include safety risks for our students and staff. In addition, over the course of the past week or more, we have seen illness absence spikes as high as 20% in our buildings. Between the weather concerns and the positives of getting kids away from each other for an extra day of rest, the decision to plan an emergency day made the most sense. Wednesday is our second emergency day of the school year. Both of those days will need to be made up at the end of our original school calendar. Any emergency days from here on out will be Remote Learning Days. Teachers have shared those plans with students, and everyone should be prepared for a Remote Learning Day if needed. Remote Learning Days do not have to be made up. Stay safe and warm. We’re one day closer to spring. Thank you for your continued support of LeRoy Schools! Go Panthers! Jeff Baughman Superintendent
