Katie Greer: Internet Safety Expert & Keynote Speaker

On Wednesday, October 11, LHS Anatomy and Strength & Conditioning classes attended the Body Worlds RX exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
The exhibition features real human specimens preserved through Plastination, a technique that removes the fluids from the body and replaces them with plastics that harden. The specimens on display show impressive comparisons and contrasts between healthy bodies and organs from those stricken with disease. Particular emphasis is put on some of the most common ailments such as back pain, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases like arteriosclerosis and heart infarctions, dementia, and more.
Students quotes:
"I really enjoyed going to Body World because it showed every part of the body from arteries to muscles. It was fascinating to see what we are made of."
"I was able to see how the inside of our body looks life-sized, and it was really fascinating."

These students are nominated by teachers and other staff members based on the qualities of: Dependability, Service, Leadership, Scholarship, and Patriotism.
This year's DAR Good Citizen for Le Roy High School is Abby Clapp. And this year's SAR Good Citizen is Matthew Stuepfert. Congrats Abby and Matthew!

Eleven Le Roy students attended hands-on CTE workshops hosted by Parkland College on Friday, September 22. Those attending the Auto Technology workshop rotated between stations on engine diagnostics, scan tool usage, the chassis dyno, and more. Students attending the Electrical Power & HVAC workshop constructed/tested general lighting circuits and learned about HVAC fabrication and maintenance. The workshops were a great opportunity for students to experience and ask questions to experts in these fields.
